Assoc. Prof. Dr. FADİME KIRAN Course Level Bachelor's Degree
Course Credit 1.0
Course Type Compulsory
Course Content
Quantative determinations of macromolecules such as carbohydrates, proteins and lipids are achieved. Chromatographic methods, spectrophotometry, bacterial genomic DNA isolation and electrophoresis techniques are applied.
Course Goals
Biochemical laboratory conditions and working rules are adopted.
Experiments are given the ability to understand the biochemical principles and interpret the results.
Learning Outcomes
1) Utilizing qualitative experiments, it shows the presence of lipids in any solution, especially in biological solutions.
2) It separates the macromolecules involved in biological systems by using chromatographic methods.
3) It diagnoses proteins according to their molecular weights by electrophoretic methods.
4) It measures the amount of lipids in biological solutions by means of quantitative assays.
