Abstract

Benzocaine is generally synthesized by oxidn., esterification and reducing reaction from p-nitrotoluene. In this paper, the synthesis of benzocaine from p-nitrotoluene using KMnO4 as oxidant, SnCl4 as catalyst and H2 as reducer was

investigated. The results show that the yield of benzocaine can get to 70.3% under the optimal condition. Indexing
