ALİ AVNİ ÇELEBİ (1904-1993)

İstanbul’da doğdu. Sanayi-i Nefise Mektebi’ni bitirdikten sonra 1922’de Devlet bursu kazanarak Almanya’ya gitti. Münih’te Hans Hoffman’ın öğrencisi oldu.

1927’de yurda dönen sanatçı “Müstakil Ressamlar ve Heykeltraşlar Birliği ’ne katıldı. 1938- 1967 yıllarında Akademi’de öğretim üyeliği yaptı. 1944’de*Devlet Resim ve Heykel Sergisi l.lik ödülü, 1981’de Kültür Bakanlığı Onur Plaketi,

1991’de Devlet Sanatçısı seçilen Ali Avni Çelebi aynı yıl Sedat Simavi Sanat Ödiilü’ne değer görüldü.
