Rembrandt, who lived between the years of 1606 and i669, is one of the world' s greatest artists and an outstanding portrait painter and had a unique ability to express states of mind through facial expression. In some of his earliest selfportraits, the artist shows his self- confidence and conceit. He painted himself as a solid, confident and prosperous man when he married Saskia van Uylenburgh.
