This meeting is part of a series of OECD virtual meetings organised to provide a platform for knowledge sharing and exchange on priority industry and policy issues from the tourism crisis triggered by COVID-

19. These meetings are supporting Mitigating the Impact of

COVID-19 on Tourism and Supporting Recovery, which aims to support government action to respond to the crisis, and the reopening and recovery of the tourism sector. It also looks to draw initial lessons from the crisis for tourism policy, to build a more sustainable and resilient tourism economy.

The private sector has a key role to play in working with policy makers to put in place effective mitigation and recovery measures for the sector. This meeting is an opportunity for representatives from peak tourism bodies and selected businesses to update OECD Member and Partner countries on the impact of COVID- 19 and outlook for the sector, identify needs of tourism businesses and priority areas of action, and exchange with tourism policy makers on potential solutions. The meeting will prepare and inform discussion on these issues at the 106th virtual session of the Tourism Committee on the 13-14 October 2020.
