I learned with great sorrow that the esteemed Prof. Dr. Bilgin Timuralp, who has been the editor-in-chief of the Anatolian Journal of Cardiology since its first publication in March 2001, had resigned from his position after a disagreement with the management of the Turkish Society of Cardiology related to the restructuring of the journal. I have always been grateful to him as my teacher and have fully appreciated his efforts throughout his 17-year editorship. The Anatolian Journal of Cardiology has reached a prestigious position with an impact factor of 1.19 today. I would once again like to express my gratitude to him, and I would hope to be able to ask his opinion from time to time in the future.

I really thought about the role of being an editor-in-chief when the management of the Turk-ish Society of Cardiology invited me to take on this position. I am aware that this will be challeng-ing, and that we must work hard to continue toward bringing the journal to a highly prestigious position. I would have had to shoulder great responsibility, but I was relieved to learn that the associate editors will work more actively to reduce the workload on the editor and editor-in-chief. Hence, we will share the responsibility as a team. I will be the conductor, as editor-in-chief, and I will do my best to fulfill this responsibility. What is important for us is to ensure that the Anatolian Journal of Cardiology, owned by the Turkish Society of Cardiology, remains among the best journals, on the basis of high quality, insightful articles.

I have accepted the position of editor-in-chief willingly, and hope to advance the position of the journal even further, taking up where Prof. Dr Bilgin Timuralp left off, and I will appreciate your help and ideas. I should highlight that the Anatolian Journal of Cardiology is for the benefit of us all, and for Turkish cardiology as a whole. Thus, the success of this journal will be our mutual success.

Best regards, Prof. Dr. Çetin Erol Editor-in-Chief Ankara, Turkey
