SİNOP UNIVERSITY
Sinop, Karadeniz kıyı şeridinin kuzeye doğru en çok sivrilerek uzanmış bulunan Boztepe Burnu ve Yarımadası üzerinde konumlanmıştır. Batısı Kastamonu, güneyi Çorum, güneydoğusu Samsun illeri, kuzeyi ise Karadeniz ile çevrilidir.
475 kilometre uzunluğundaki sınırlarının 300 kilometresi kara, 175’i ise deniz kıyısıdır. Oldukça zengin bir tarihi geçmişe sahip olan Sinop ilinde ilk yerleşimler Ayancık’ta İstifan (Stephana), Sinop (Sinope) ve Kabalı Çayı vadisinde gerçekleşmiştir. Bu yerleşimlerin tarihi MÖ 4500’lü yıllara kadar uzanıyor. Tarihi yanında çok zengin bir doğal çevreye de sahip olan Sinop, günümüzde de bölgenin önemli bir tarihi ve turistik kentidir.
GEZILEBILECEK YERLER
Sinop Kalesi: MÖ 7. yüzyılda şehri korumak amacıyla kurulmuş; Roma, Bizans ve Selçuklular döneminde onarılarak kullanılmıştır. Günümüzde kentin tarihi simgelerinden bir olarak hâlâ ayaktadır.
Balatlar Kilisesi: Roma zamanında tiyatro ya da hamam
Sinop is located on the Boztepe Cape and Peninsula, where the Black Sea coastline extends most taperingly to the north.
It is surrounded by Kastamonu to the west, Çorum to the south, Samsun to the southeast, and the Black Sea to the north. 300 kilometers of its borders, which are 475 kilometers long, are land and 175 are sea coasts. In the province of Sinop, which has a very rich historical background, the first settlements were founded in Ayancık, in the valley of İstifan (Stephana), Sinop (Sinope) and Kabalı Stream. The history of these settlements dates back to 4500 BC. Sinop, which has a very rich natural environment besides its history, is an important historical and touristic city of the region today.
Places to Visit
Sinop Castle: It was constructed in the 7th century BC to protect the city. It was repaired and used during the Roman, Byzantine and Seljuk periods. Today, it is still standing as one of the historical symbols of the city.

Eski Sinop Cezaevi - Eski Sinop Tersanesi: Cezaevinin bulunduğu alan Osmanlı döneminde Karadeniz’deki en büyük tersaneydi. Cezaevi iç kalenin içinde eski tersane alanında inşa edilip 1887 yılından itibaren cezaevi olarak kullanılmaya başlandı. Cezaevi şu anda müze olarak kullanılıyor.
Alaaddin Mosque: It was built during the Seljuk period, right after the conquest of Sinop. There is a fountain in the middle of the courtyard, and the tombs of İsfendiyaroğulları Dynasty in one corner.
Hamsilos Bay: Hamsilos, which is 11 kilometers away from the center of Sinop, was declared a 1st Degree Natural Protected Area by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Old Sinop Prison - Old Sinop Shipyard: The area where the prison is located was the largest shipyard in the Black Sea during the Ottoman period. The prison was built in the old shipyard area inside the inner castle and started to be used as a prison since 1887. The prison is currently used as a museum.
Sinop University
Üniversitemiz, 2007 yılında, Türkiye’nin doğal, tarihi ve kültürel varlıklarıyla adeta kuzeyinde parlayan yıldızı konumunda olan Sinop İlinde kurulmuştur. Asli vazifesi olan eğitim-öğretim ve araştırma faaliyetlerini birimle- rimizde 12.262 öğrencisi ile sürdürmektedir.
Söz konusu faaliyetler çerçevesinde, bilimsel araştırma ve toplum hizmetleri etkinliklerini evrensel standartlar- da yürüterek ulusumuzun ve insanlığın sosyal, kültürel, ekonomik, bilimsel ve teknolojik gelişimi için bilgiye ulaşmayı, bilgi üretmeyi ve uygulamayı ve bu bilgiler- le donatılmış bireyler yetiştirmeyi amaç edinmiştir. Bu anlamda bir üniversitenin asli misyonunun var olan bilginin anlaşılmasının sağlanması yanında yeni bil- gilerin üretilmesiyle hayata geçirilmesi olduğunu da koşulsuz kabul eder. Bunun için, bilginin üretilmesi ve paylaşılması süreçlerinde her türlü kısıtlamaya karşı çı- kar. Bilimsel faaliyetlerin rahatça yürütülebildiği, yeni yeteneklerin ortaya çıkmasının teşvik edildiği ve öğren- cilerin kendilerini geliştirebildikleri bir ortam oluşturur.

Our university was established in 2007 in the province of Sinop, which is the shining star in the north of Turkey with its natural, historical and cultural assets. It continues its education and research activities, which are its main duty, with 12,262 students in our units.
Within the framework of these activities, it aims to reach, produce and apply information for the social, cultural, economic, scientific and technological development of our nation and humanity by carrying out scientific research and community service activities at universal standards, and to raise individuals equipped with this information. In this sense, it unconditionally accepts that the primary mission of a university is not only to ensure the understanding of existing knowledge, but also to implement new knowledge by producing it. For this reason, it opposes all kinds of restrictions in the processes of producing and sharing information. It creates an environment where scientific activities can be carried out comfortably, the emergence of new talents is encouraged and students can improve themselves. Bu amaçla, bilgiye dayalı, görev ve sorumlulukların akademik ve idari birimlere dağıtıldığı, demokratik, katılımcı, dinamik, esnek ve şeffaf bir yöne- tim biçimini benimser.
