Transparent conducting oxides (TCOs) have attracted the attention of many researchers due to their wide

ap-plications. Among TCOs, tin oxide (TO) is widely used in solar cells, display devices and gas sensors etc. due

to theirs low electrical resistivity, high optical transmittance in visible region, high optical reflectance in

infra-red region. To obtain thin films, there are experimental techniques such as sol-gel, sputter and spray pyrolysis.

Among these techniques, the spray pyrolysis technique is an attractive method to obtain thin films because of

its simple and inexpensive experimental arrangement. In spray pyrolysis when the solution droplet approaches

the hot substrate it should vaporize entirely just above the substrate: this is the ideal condition for the best

transportation of the species to the substrate. Therefore, distance between nozzle-sUbstrate is important to

ob-tain a good film. In this study Sn0

was used as dopant source of F and Sb. The effect of

nozzle-substrate distance investigated on film physical and optical properties at constant substrate temperature

350 °C have been varied from 25 to 45 em. XRD measurement showed the best crystallinity at 35 em and the

high intensity taken (101) preferential orientation. UV measurement showed that highly doubly doped thin

film absorbance in visible region. From the transmission data the extinction and absorption coefficient have

been evaluated. The better linearity was obtained in the (ahvi- hv plots. So, the band gap is of direct type,

Eg

values were designated by extrapolating the linear portion of these plots to the energy axis. The plot yields the

value for allowed direct transition lie between 3.29 eV and 3.51 eV.

In this presentation, we report a facile seeded growth for the synthesis of uniform Au-Pd bimetallic

nanostruc-tures with cubic and dendritic shapes and their electrocatalytic activities toward ethanol oxidation. Starting

from single-crystal seeds of Au spheres with a uniform size, we could reproducibly obtain Au-Pd core-shell

nanocubes and Pd dendrites with narrow size distributions and in high yields. The shape of resultant

Au-Pd nanostructures could be easily controlled by using different capping agents; cetyltrimethylammonium

bro-mide (CTAB) for the Au@Pd core-shell nanocubes, and cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) for the Au-Pd

den-drites. Moreover, morphologies of resultant Au-Pd nanostructures could be readily controlled by varying the

concentration of precursors, the amount of seeds, or both. We have also investigated their optical properties,

as well as electrocatalytic activity for ethanol oxidation.
