A visit to the London Transport Museum, in the heart of historic Covent Garden, is an exciting experien ce for all the family. So much to see and enjoy—buses, trams, trolleybuses, trains, models and a whole parade of colourful posters—in fact, a panorama of London’s public transport displayed under one roof in the capital’s latest museum. W hether you have used London’s buses and trains many times, or you are a new visitor to London, this colourful museum will be a stimulating and enjoyable experience. Maps, historical posters, specially designed graphic panels, photographs,
and audio-visual displays tell the story of 200 years of London’s transport history.
There are so many things to do and see—the ‘dead man’s handle’ of a Tube train is a favourite working exhibit; a press button makes an early Underground lift com e to ‘life’. And you can even try your hand at bein g a signalman! The children will love the colour and strange shapes of the old horse buses, and ‘driving’ a tram and a bus. Train lovers will find a steam locom otive used on the w orld’s first underground railway and a
beautiful teak-bodied Metropolitan Railway coach. And if you love buses, they await you under the roof o f this magnificient Victorian hall used for a century as London’s Flower Market.
There are film shows or other activities every w eekend. Afterwards, browse around our Museum Shop. W e have a w id e range o f books, posters, postcards and other unusual souvenirs to remind you of the happy time you have spent in London with us.
We know that you will want to come again.
