Most psychologists now assign phobias to one of three broad categories: social phobias, in which the sufferer feels paralysing fear at the prospect of social or professional encounters; panic disorders, in which the person is periodically blindsided by overwhelming fear for no apparent reason; and specific phobias -fear of snakes, enclosed spaces, heights and the like. Of the three, the specific phobias are the easiest to treat, partly because they are the easiest to understand.

Concerning the question of capital punishment, the U.S. and its allies stand on opposite sides of a great divide. All 15 members of the European Union have banned the death penalty, and the organisation actively promotes its abolition throughout the world. Brussels has made abolition a precondition to E.U. membership, as has the 41-member Council of Europe, thereby spurring most East and Central European aspirants to do away with capital punishment. He was sent to England at six for his education, which he received at the Charterhouse and Cambridge, after which he began, but did not prosecute, the study of law. Having lost his means, in part by gambling, he made up his mind to earn his living as an artist, and went to Paris to study. Wliile American colleges were being established in different parts of the world, boarding schools and schools for Native Americans were being set up in the U.S. The aim of these schools was to provide a good education to poor Native American children. The most famous school, the Carlisle School for Native Americans, established in 1879 in Pennsylvania, accepted Native American children from all over the country. PRACTICE EXAM

-4-67-69, sorulari verilen paryaya gSre cevaplayini/.. It was long believed that human activities could have little effect upon the ocean environment. The first indication this was not true came from the decreased abundance of certain fish, marine mammals, and birds. The improved fishing techniques and greater fishing effort have reduced certain populations to critical levels and in some cases have led to their extinction. Various groups of conservationists have endeavoured to protect species under heavy pressure. In some cases these efforts have been successful, in many others they have been thwarted in their attempts to stop or reduce the slaughter. The principal difficulty is the reluctance of those harvesting the ocean to give up their traditional freedom to exploit the resources of the oceans. It's exceedingly difficult to police the vast areas of the ocean and prosecute the offenders.

67- In contrast to the previously held belief, today it's quite obvious that... A) fish population is more than it was in

the past

B) conservationists are more vigorous C) illegal fishing has decreased <

dramatically

with those harvesting the ocean 68- Most of the efforts made to protect some
