THE KIOSK OF THE AFGANLAR TEKKESİ
Alev ÇAKMAKOĞLUIn his book «Pavilions and Palaces» Sedat H. Eldem describes the kiosk of the Afganlar Tek kesi as a single-chambered wooden building set on a small raised terrace within the ruined
tekke opposite the Tiled Mosque at Üsküdar.
He tells us that the interior and exterior ar chitecture of the building was completely renovated at the beginning of the nineteenth century, but that the paved floor and the pool probably date back to the construction of the building in the seventeenth century. The kiosk consists of a single rectangular room with raised platforms on the right and the left. There is a wooden painted mihrab niche in the wall opposite the entrance with a small niche on each side. There is a window on each side of the entrance door and three windows in each of the side walls.
