SOLIDARITY MESSAGES FROM GREEK TEACHERS’ UNION
On behalf of Greek Teachers Union board members, President Matina Grafou and Secretary Ntina Reppa express their supports by sending solidarity messages for all combatant education workers and Eğitim Sen workers against repressions of Turkish government. “We stand by Eğitim Sen against mass cleaning operations launched by Erdoğan‟s political power.
Turkish government has launched „witch hunt‟ operations against education workers in any positions and they have dismissed 11.200 education workers on the grounds that help PKK as it seems as terrorist organization.
These attacks are kind of cleaning operations that have been initiated by repressive Erdoğan‟s political power. Their pressures are especially against who struggle for protecting right, justice, peace and democracy. That‟s why removing thousands of education workers from their duties is a fascist practices. Under the “national threat”, it is intended to intimidate workers, Turks and Kurds struggling for democratic rights and freedoms.
We are in solidarity with our Eğitim Sen colleagues, Turkish public, labor class and public movements, and other institutions struggling for this direction. On the other hand, we have struggled against imperialist power, war and interventions in our region.
We strength the international solidarity and struggle, and we said that we would be in a common struggle against all oppressive regime. Our campaigns have continued against SYRIZA- ANEL government and UN supporting opponent policies contrary with interests of local community. Especially in the field of education, Turkish workers‟ unions and Greek unions have a long-standing cooperation in the field of solidarity and friendship.
On February 2015, Greek Education Workers went to Turkey to examine camps where refugees came from Kobani with Eğitim Sen Urfa offices. Then, in Greece, we launched a campaign “school for Kobani” and organized activities with Eğitim Sen directors who were invited to Greece. – we call for all education workers for signing solidarity statements, participating in solidarity activities- we call for all education unions‟ offices and confederation of public labor‟s union (ADEDY) to take board decision.
We express their supports for education workers by Yannis Ritsos‟s words. We promise to their colleagues to stand by their struggles.
