Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti 'nde yeni doğan kongenital aıwmalili buzağılarda bazı viral hastalıklar üzerine serolojik bir araştırma
Özet: Bu araştırmada Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti 'nde 1998 yılında kon-genital anomalili doğduğu tespit edilen 27 buzağının serum örneklerinde Akabwıe, Mavidil ve Bovine Viral Diarrhoea viruslarına spes~fik antikorlar nötralizasyon testiyle ara~çtırtldı. Serum örneklerinden 5 (%18.9) adetinin AKA, 17 (%62,9) ade-tinin BVDV antikorları yönünden pozit~1'olduğu, 3 serum örneğinin ise her iki vi-rusa karşı da antikor taşıdığı saptandı. Serum örneklerinin hiç birinde BT spesifik antikorlar saptanamadı.

The main importanee of boyine viral di-arrhoea (BVD), blue tongue (BT), akabane (AKA) infeetions is the outeome of foetal in-feetions, if transplaeental spread of the virus oceur. Transplaeental infeetions with these agents may result in foetal brain malformations and Iesions, cerebellar hypoplasia, oeular de-fects, birth of weak and undersized ealves and birth of apparently normal ealves. Additionally, BVDV infections can eause birth of calves per-sistently infeeted with BVD virus (2, 3, 5).
Birth of ealves with eongenital ab-normalities have been observed in 1998 in Tur-kish Republie of Northern Cyprus. In the pre-sent paper, some serologieal results obtained from these ealves with congenital abnorma1ities diseussed.
For this purpose, 27 blood sera samplcs obtained from ealves with eongenital ab-normalities were tested BT, AKA and BVD an-tibodies.
For screening purposes as well as for qıı-antitatiye determination of antibodies against these agents, the simultaneaııs techniqııe of microtiter neutralisation test was applied (I).
Out of 27 blood sera tested 5 (18.9 %) sho-wed AKA antibody and 17 (62.9 %) showed BVD antibody. Three serum samples were also found posilive for both of them. No sera were found to be positive for BT antibodies.
The evidenee of the presenee BT and AKA infeetions is known in Cyprus for last three de-ı. Prof. Dr.. Ankara Üniversitesi Veteriner Fakültesi Viroloji Anabilim Dalı

cades (4,6). But their impartance of eongenital abnormalities in ealves has not bcen deteeted virologieally.
The prescnee of BVD infeetions in Turkish Republie of Northern Cyprus eattlc has been also deteeted by Burgu ct al.(unpublished data). The results of present study also show the pe-resenee of these infcetions in Turkish Republie of Northern Cyprus, but these data don't exaetly mean that BVD, AKA and BT eause birth of ealves with eongenital abnormalities.
However, depending on the results of this studyand numerous investigations deseribing the role of eoneerning viruses on eongenita! ab-normalities, it may be speeulated that BVD, AKA, and BT virus infeetion might be eause of ealves birth with eongenital malformations faeed-up in Turkish Republie of Northern Cyprus.
