BAB sadece hastalarda değil bakım verenlerde de yeti yitimine neden olabi-len kronik bir hastalıktır. Bu hastalık bakım verenlerde değişik derecelerde tükenmiş-liğe neden olmaktadır. Bu çalışmada da bakım verenlerde bozuklukla ilişkili faktörle-re göfaktörle-re değişik defaktörle-recede sosyal uyumda bozulma ve tükenmişlik saptanmıştır. Kli-nikte daha çok hastalık ve hastaların durumuyla ilgilenilmekte ve büyük oranda ba-kım verenler göz ardı edilmektedir. Literatürde baba-kım veren kişilerin hastalığın seyri, prognozu, tedaviye uyumu, relaps, hastaların sosyal işlevselliği üzerindeki etkileri net bir şekilde gösterilmiştir. Ancak birçok ülkede olduğu gibi ülkemizde de kronik mental hastalıklara bakım verenlere psikolojik destek ve tıbbi tedavi öneren bir kıla-vuz bulunmamaktadır. Yine diğer ülkelerdeki gibi bizim ülkemizde de hastalara ba-kım sağlayacak standardize edilmiş bir destek sistemi bulunmamaktadır. Baba-kım ver-me işini ülkemizde de büyük oranda hasta yakınları üstlenver-mektedir. Standardize bir sistemin bulunması, bakım verenlerdeki öznel ve nesnel tükenmişliği ve böylece has-taların sağlık sistemi üzerindeki yüklerini azaltabilir. Yine bakım verenlerin hastalık-la ve tedavisi ile ilgili standardize edilmiş tedavi programhastalık-ları çok fazhastalık-la uyguhastalık-lanma- uygulanma-maktadır. Bu tür tedavi programlarının desteklenmesi bakım veren kişinin yükünü azaltabilir. Ancak yukarıda da bahsettiğimiz gibi bakım verenlerin psikolojik ve be-densel sağlığı klinisyenlerin dikkatini daha az çekmektedir. Bu konuyla ilgili daha fazla çalışma yapılarak klinisyenlerin dikkati bakım veren kişilerdeki tükenmişliğe çekilebilir. Sonuçta bu konu ile ilgili ulusal ruh sağlığı politikaları geliştirilmesi ve uygulanması hastalar, bakım verenler ve sağlık giderleri üzerinde olumlu etkiler ya-ratabilir ve bu nedenle de konuyla ilgili daha fazla sayıda çalışmalar yapılmasının ge-rekli olduğu aşikardır.
