İdiyopatik skolyoz toplumda yüksek prevalansa sahip bir hastalık olması açısından klinikte en çok karşılaşılan hastalıklardan bir tanesidir. Geçmişte ağrısız bir durum olarak ifade edilmesine rağmen günümüzde ağrı şikâyeti ile doktora müracaatlar azımsanamayacak düzeydedir. Bu nedenle, sırt ağrısı olan idiyopatik skolyozlu genç bireyler üzerinde gerçekleştirilen bu çalışmanın sonuçları aşağıdaki gibi özetlenmiştir:

1. Çalışmamızda idiyopatik skolyozu olan genç bireylerde 6 haftalık 3 boyutlu Schroth egzersiz yöntemi uygulamasının ağrı, solunum fonksiyonları ve yaşam kalitesi üzerine olumlu etkileri gösterilmiş, ancak bu sürenin hareket korkusu, vücut farkındalığı ve postüral düzgünlük üzerindeki etkileri belirlemede yeterli olmadığı sonucuna varılmıştır.

2. Klasik yöntemlere nazaran Schroth yönteminin idiyopatik skolyoz tedavisinde eğriliğin açısının azaltılması, fonksiyonel düzeyin artırılması ve yaşam kalitesi üzerine etkinliği her ne kadar daha önceki çalışmalarda gösterilmiş olsa da, çalışmamız bu bireylerde Schroth yönteminin ağrı, hareket korkusu ve yaşam kalitesi üzerine etkilerinin birlikte araştırıldığı literatürdeki ilk çalışmadır. 3. Çalışmamız, idiyopatik skolyozlu bireylerde yalnızca fonksiyonel

yetersizliklerin değil hareket korkusu ve vücut farkındalığı etkileniminin de olabileceğini göstermiştir. Bu nedenle rehabilitasyon programlarının başarısı için bu bireylerin biyopsikososyal açıdan kapsamlı bir değerlendirmeye ihtiyacı olduğuna dikkat çekmektedir.

Çalışmamızdan elde edilen sonuçlar; idiyopatik skolyoz tedavisinde özellikle ağrıyı ve solunum fonksiyonlarını iyileştirmek, yaşam kalitesini artırmak için klasik konservatif tedavi yaklaşımlarına alternatif olarak Schroth tedavi yönteminin de daha yaygın bir şekilde etkin bir tedavi yaklaşımı olarak fizyoterapistler tarafından kullanılabileceğini göstermektedir. Bu egzersiz yöntemi düzenli aralıklarla uzun süreli veya yoğunlaştırılmış programlar şeklinde kısa süreli ve takipli olarak kliniklerde uygulaması yapılabilir. Bu egzersiz yönteminin hareket korkusu, vücut farkındalığı ve

postural dizilim üzerindeki etkilerini belirlemek için daha uzun süreli ileri çalışmalara ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır.
