Duygu Çelik has been entitled to receive the doctorate title in the doctoral thesis defense exam held on November 29, 2021 with the thesis titled “The Effect of Inflation on Income Distribution in Developed and Developing Countries: 1990-2017”, which she has conducted under the supervision of Kemal Erkisi. NEWS TECHNOLOGY LEADS CHILDREN TO
LACK OF CONTACT WITH THEIR ENVIRONMENT
4TH TURKEY SPORTS SUMMIT BEGINS
Stating that the abuse of technology has many negative effects on children in psychological, physical, cognitive and social areas, Lect. Buse Kerigan emphasizes, “Digital technology usage reduces the frequency of children’s use of outdoor playgrounds and causes children to be out of touch with their environment.”
“IT HAS A NEGATIVE EFFECT ON PSYCHOLOGICAL, PHYSICAL, COGNITIVE AND SOCIAL AREAS”
Stating that children from all age groups grow together with both traditional and modern technology, Istanbul Gelisim University Department of Child Development Faculty member Buse Kerigan says, “Research shows that there has been an increase in the use of modern technology products such as computers, tablets and phones, which have become widespread in recent years. While the use of these technology products is consciously safe, beneficial when used for beneficial purposes and with a time limit it can be determined as abuse when used unsupervised, aimlessly and for long periods of time. Abuse of technology has many negative effects on children in psychological, physical, cognitive and social areas.”
Organized in cooperation with Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) and Sports Policies Association (SPOLDER), the 4th Turkey Sports Summit begins.
Organized with the theme of “Sustainable Future in Sports Sciences”, the 4th Turkey Sports Summit will be held on 28 December in cooperation with Istanbul Gelisim University School of Physical Education and Sports and Sports Policies Association (SPOLDER).

UNEMPLOYMENT IS ANOTHER CAUSE OF CANCER!
THE DOCUMENTARY “PAYAS” TO BE SHOT AT
THE HISTORICAL SOKOLLU MEHMET PASHA COMPLEX
Assoc. Prof. Gülgün Çiğdem, who has carried out studies called the Crisis- Cancer Cycle (CCC-Crise Cancer Cycle), in her multidisciplinary studies in which she questioned the relationship between poverty and cancer incidence in the United States, questioned whether there is any relationship between unemployment caused by crises and cancer incidence this time by taking Turkey into account.
According to her research, Çiğdem has added a new one to the known risk factors of cancer and stated that unemployment is one of the causes of cancer.
Assoc. Prof. Gülgün Çiğdem’s original empirical study entitled “The Crisis- Cancer Cycle in the Shadow of COVID-19: Evidence from Turkey” has been published in the World Cancer Research Journal (WCRJ) in Italy.
The “Payas Film Workshop”, which will be organized by Payas Municipality and Istanbul Gelisim University, starts on January 6th.
“Payas Film Workshop”, which will be organized in cooperation with Istanbul Gelisim University Fine Arts Faculty under the coordination of the Payas Municipality Culture Directorate, starts on 6 January. The high school students who attend the 3-day training will start at the Sokollu Mehmet Pasha Complex*, which was built by Mimar Sinan by the grand vizier of the time, Sokollu Mehmet Pasha.
