Ethics & Social Responsibility

 Ethics are moral philosophies that define right and wrong behaviour in marketing.

 Social responsibility is an organisation’s

responsibility to minimise its negative impact

on society as a whole, and maximise its positive

impact.

Ethics/Cultural values may change depending to the country you work in.

Normative judgments

Judging something as good or bad, right or wrong, better or worse.

Moral standards (Morality)

Society’s accepted standards for behaviors that have serious consequences to its well-being.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

“CSR is understood to be the way firms integrate social, environmental and economic concerns into their values,

culture, decision making, strategy and operations” (Hohnen and Potts, 2007, p 4).

CSR perceived an important topic for companies where
