The A rc h a e o lo g ica l Museums o f Istanbul are under the M inister o f Education. A t present the f o l lo w in g departm ents are open to visitors.
1. The Museum o f A ntiquities. (O w in g to repairs o n ly 20 rooms are open a t p re se n t).
2. The Museum o f the A ncient O rient. 3. The Castle o f th e Seven Towers.
Price o f admission fo r each departm ent 12 kuruş on w eek days, 7 kuruş on o ffic ia l holidays.
The Museum o f A ntiquities is open on Sundays, W ednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 13 o ’clock. It closes a t 18 o 'clo ck from A p ril 1st to the end o f September, and at 16 o'clock from O cto b e r 1st to the end o f M arch. The Museum o f the A ncient O rie n t is open on Sundays, W ednesdays, Fridays in the m orn ing from 10 to 12 o'clock. The Castle o f the Seven Towers opens e veryday at 10 o ’clock. It closes at 1 8 o ’clock from a p ril 1 st to th e end o f September and at 16 o ’clock from O cto b e r 1st to the end o f March.
A ll schoolchildren and University students, and soldiers, are adm itted free. They should present to the Director o f the A rc h a e o lo g ica l Museums, on any day excepting Sunday, an o ffic ia l a p p lica tio n signed by the responsible authorities.
The D epartm ent o f Coins and M edals, the De partm ent o f Cuneform Tablets, and the Library are open to scientific studies.
- The Museum also possesses Departm ents o f Pho to g ra p h y , o f Plaster Casts and Repair, o f A rchitecture, and a Chemical Laboratory.
