Amacı / Purpose Protogeometrik ve Geometrik dönem sanatı Klasik Yunan kültürü ve sanatının oluşum evresine aittir. Klasik Arkeoloji eğitiminin temelini oluşturan bu ders kapsamında Bronz Çağı sonları ve Demir Çağı’nın başlarına ait Yunan seramik sanatı, küçük sanat ürünleri, dönemin mimarisi ve kentleşme süreci temelinde Kıta Yunanistan, Ege Adaları ve Batı Anadolu sınırları içinde karşılaştırmalı olarak ele alınmaktadır. Ayrıca, ders kapsamında öğrenciye Erken Yunan Sanatı’nın temel kavramları verilerek, analitik ve bilimsel bakış yöntemleri kazandırılmaya çalışılmaktadır.

The Geometric period of the Greek Art is the beginning of the Greek civilisation. The main objective of this course is to contribute students to their identification of characteristics of the Geometric period by the light of the archaeological materials mainly from Athens, Aegean Islands and the coast of Asia Minor.

İçeriği / Content Geometrik dönem sanatı kapsamında dönemin seramiği, mimarisi ve küçük buluntuları sanatın genel karakterini vurgulayan buluntularla açıklamalı olarak ele alınacaktır.

Geometrik döneme ait malzemenin yoğun şekilde ele geçtiği Kıta Yunanistan, Ege Adaları ve Batı Anadolu’daki merkezler ve buluntuları birbiriyle karşılaştırılarak tartışılacaktır.

The art of the Geometric period, which begins in the centuries between 1100 and 700 B.C., is the basis of Classical Archaeology. Because of a period of preparation and incubation free from outside influence, the age was of great significance for later developments it is one of the major subjects for the undergraduate education in the program of Classical Archaeology. During this earliest period of Greek Art, ancient pottery and vase painting is the only consistent guideline to the development of artistic concepts. Late Mycenaean that predates and Proto-Attic and Proto-Corinthian period that postdates the relevant period will be instructed as well. In addition to pottery, architecture and sculpture (terracotta and metal works) in the geometric period of the
