There are scarcely any moments that won't benefit from a humorous remark or a cheerful lift. Yet, some people regularly complain about everything griping at the taxes and the political opposition and lambasting everyone under them. Frequently the gripers wind up in the doctor's office. But I know many executives who carry on under tremendous pressure as affably and kindly as a girl skipping down the street. They are the people who get along and stay out of the hospitals. It is particularly important in family life to develop the habit of pleasant conversation. Do not, for your own, your children's or your digestion's sake, make the family meal a recitation of troubles, anxieties, fears, warnings, accusations. And what is more important, don't let the feeling pervade your family that everyone is so taken for granted that a pleasantry or kind word is unnecessary. The crabbed note that clangs daily in so many families is a good foundation for many of the neurotic characteristics of later life.
29- The writer implies that, even under great pressure, ………… A) many executives show no more sense than a
young girl

words are not necessary

A) do so because they have higher taxes than

Film festivals today are such an accepted part of the international landscape that it is hard to find a nation or topic unrepresented by one. These annual festivals are generally organized around a theme, such as science fiction, documentaries, animation, sports, the environment, or contemporary features. Most festivals are either non-competitive, like New York and Montreal; competitive, like Miami and San Sebastian, where prizes are awarded; or both, like Cannes and Berlin. The oldest ongoing film festival, founded in 1932, is in Venice. The Cannes Film Festival, started in 1946 in an effort to encourage Cote d'Azur tourism, offers several hundred feature films that vary greatly in quality and audience appeal. Although the 3-week-long event is less prestigious than it once was, it remains the film industry's most important movie marketplace.

In marine habitats, a number of small creatures are involved in a “cleaning symbiosis.” At least six species of small shrimp, frequently brightly coloured, crawl over fish, picking off parasites and cleaning injured areas. This is not an accidental occurrence, because fish are observed to congregate around these shrimp and stay motionless while being inspected. Several species of small fish (wrasses) are also cleaners, nearly all of them having appropriate adaptations such as long snouts, tweezer-like teeth, and bright coloration. Conspicuous coloration probably communicates that these animals are not prey.
35- This passage is mainly about…………

B) a place in the sea
C) a species of marine life
D) a mystery of marine life
36- The habitat described in this passage is ………… A) an aquarium B) an island C) the ocean D) a laboratory E) a zoo

Poachers have struck again at the Mountain Gorilla, one of the world’s rarest animals. The gorillas — fewer than 250 — live in scattered family groups throughout the forest on the slopes of three extinct volcanoes. Each group is normally led by a dominant male who may weigh up to 130 kilos and is easily recognised by the stripe of silver fur which appears when he is fully mature. The poachers speared the male to death as he tried to defend his family and then made off with a baby gorilla whose mother is missing and also presumed dead. With so few gorillas left, even one death is a serious blow, especially when a “silverback” male is lost. With no dominant male to lead them, the rest of the group will probably split up and join other
groups. Twenty-five years ago there were perhaps 500 gorillas in these high mountain forests. Today their numbers have been halved, not just by poaching but by human interference in all its forms. Illegal wood cutting, cattle-grazing and farming have reduced the park to a small strip. The Government is now trying to protect the gorillas to ensure their survival. One of the most successful operations has been to habituate a group of wild gorillas to the presence of tourists, who are prepared to pay handsomely and to endure considerable hardship, crawling through dense undergrowth for a glimpse of these, our closest living relatives.
38-It is understood from the passage that the gorilla organisation into family groups make them vulnerable because …………
A) they want to struggle in a group. B) the head of the family doesn’t
allow others to leave the group. C) when the head of the family is
killed the others remain unprotected and are then forced to split up and join different groups. D)when they are a lot in number,
other animals can’t dare attack them.
E) they do the common works together.
39-According to the passage the gorilla is not only under threat from poachers but from the human inhabitants generally, because …………
A) poachers kill the males, so they don’t have babies.
B) people kill them for their fur.
C) people want them to leave the area.
D)when the people in the area cut down the trees and turn over the land to cattle or farming, they reduce the food and the area available for the gorillas.
E) people apply birth control for them.
40-It is clearly understood from the passage that there is an advantage to the government in keeping the gorillas in their natural environment because …………
A) they are attractive to tourists and
the government benefits
financially through the money the tourist are prepared to pay.
B) the gorillas save the environment from other wild animals.
C) they are used in experiments by the scientists.
D)it is difficult to keep the gorillas indoors.
E) it is hard to domesticate them.
